Amelioration Effect of Herbal Immunomodulators on Haemobiochemical and Cortisol Levels of Broilers under Heat Stress

As the body temperature of birds rise, growth and production parameters tend to decline. In order to address the problem of heat stress, an experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different herbal antistressor products on the Haemobiochemical and cortisol level of broilers. For this, 180 day-old commercial straight run broiler chicks were randomly divided into six treatment groups with six replicates of five birds each. The experimental design consisted of; T1 control diet, T2: Stressroak liquid, T3: AV/ESL/16 liquid, T4: Stressroak premix, T5: Geriforte liquid, T6: Stresscheck. The haematological data revealed that there is no significant difference (p>0.05) in WBC counts among all the groups during 4th week, however they differed significantly during 6th week. The values of RBC count, Hb (g/dl), haematocrit (PCV) were significantly high in test groups compared to control both in 4th and 6th weeks. There was no significant difference noticed in the erythrocytic indices (MCV, MCH and MCHC) among the groups both in 4th and 6th week. The birds in control group were under stress which was indicated by increased percentage of heterophils and decreased percentage of lymphocytes and thus high H/L ratio (0.83 and 0.89 in 4th and 6th week respectively).
