Lean Manufacturing Practises In The Healthcare System

Today, the waste reduction should be the aim of all managers. The costs have increased day by day in the healthcare sector. It is necessary to manage effectively processes in order to reduce costs. Process improvement studies in the health sector is extremely important to discipline costs. Lean manufacturing methods were developed by Toyota in 1950 aims to improve the processes. Lean manufacturing reduces the costs while eliminating wastes in the processes. Although lean manufacturing was firstly developed in the automotive sector, it is also implemented in the manufacturing and the service sector. The aim of this paper is to report hospital that have lately fulfilled lean. Thus, it is seen that the lean manufacturing contributes to the hospitals. In this study, it is also aimed to give point of view for the firms which don’t implement lean manufacturing. In addition, lean manufaturing techniques have been also mentioned in general.
