Preparation of Recipient Wound Bed by Electrical Stimulation for Skin Flaps in Dogs

Abstract
Electrical stimulation improved the survival rate and skin blood flow of skin flaps through enhanced capillary growth, hence it increased the overall blood supply to the flap, a feature regarded as a milestone for successful wound repair. In addition electrical stimulation increased the wound strength and hastened wound closure and better protected the granulated tissue and wound against rupture and infection, which were very important clinically. This beneficial effect would be important in chronic nonhealing wounds that did not respond to standard care.
