Chronic Recalcitrant Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

Entesar Batouk, Abdulmonem Almutawa, Abdullah AlSonbul, Sulaiman Mohammed Al-Mayouf.

We describe a girl presented with chronic mucositis and palmoplantar ulcerative lesions. The diagnosis of chronic Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) was made based on the clinical manifestations and histopathology findings and exclusion of other diagnosis. She had unusual chronic disease course; not responding to low dose corticosteroid treatment. The institution of intensive intravenous pulse corticosteroid, cyclosporine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy induced a complete remission. This report is intended to widen the range of clinical course of SJS and treatment options.

Key words: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, chronic, intravenous pulse corticosteroid, hyperbaric oxygen therapy
