Evaluation of vitamins A, D and E in pregnancy and breastfeeding period

Pregnancy and breastfeeding improve the nutritional requirements for several vitamins and minerals. Therefore, many health organizations suggest vitamin-mineral supplementation to pregnants and breastfeeding mothers for their vitamin deficiencies. Uncontrolled intake of especially the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E can lead to undesirable situations. For this reason, in this review, clinical and experimental studies focused on effects of vitamins A, D, and E in pregnancy and breastfeeding period were presented. Additionally, the content of the vitamins sold in pharmacies are given as Tables.
